Children's Summer Reading Challenge

The Children's Summer Challenge is from June 5-August 11. Read and log at least 4 days a week to earn a prize for that week! Complete at least 4 activities in each "activity track" to earn a prize. Stop by your local library branch at any time during the challenge to collect your prizes.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten™ Program

1000 Books Before Kindergarten™ is a self-paced, early literacy program for children ages 0-6 designed to increase vocabulary, build reading confidence and promote pre-reading skills necessary for kindergarten. Register and track your reading online or by visiting any Volusia County Public Library branch. Click here to enroll.

Lit Kits include library books, activities, and other educational materials. Kits will be filled and picked up on a weekly basis (or less frequently, depending on patron preference).

This service is for all children grade 5 and under.

Miss Humblebee's Academy

Miss Humblebee's Academy is an interactive kindergarten-readiness program that introduces children ages three to six to key concepts in math, science, social studies, language and literacy, art, and music. It's as challenging as it is fun! For ages 3-6.

World Book Early Learning

World Book Early Learning is designed for preschool students. This database reinforces early childhood curriculum via short videos, read-aloud stories, printable activities, and matching and tracing games, among others. The guided reading program, lesson plans, and curriculum correlations make teaching easier for educators and parents. Volusia County Public Library card required for remote access. How to Turn Milk Into Plastic

Kids will learn how casein molecules in milk can be heated and combined with an acid, such as vinegar to create plastic!
